About Us
The Real Estate Advocate was founded by Jeff & Patsy Guthrie in response to a negative experience they had when buying a home. They spent hours searching for houses on the Internet and calling real estate agents only to learn that these agents were not interested in getting the Guthrie’s the best price or best terms. The agents they spoke to were the “listing” agents (the agent who represented the seller of the home) and were legally bound to work at getting the seller the best price and terms – not the buyers.
Jeff and Patsy knew that if they were going to find their dream home - at the best price and best terms – then they needed to be represented by a top-notch Real Estate Professional the REexpert™. So, once again, they began surfing the net. After going to many, many real estate referral web sites, the Guthrie’s realized that the real estate agents that these sites recommended were NOT great agents (they were sub-par or “average” at best). After doing some research, the Guthrie’s learned that virtually all of these real estate referral organizations would take ANY agent who signed up for their program - and who agreed to pay them for their referral services.
Jeff and Patsy knew that buying or selling a home was going to be the largest, and one of the most personal and important transactions of their life. Speaking from a financial perspective, Jeff said, “I am spending a huge amount of money on this home. I’m not a Realtor. And I am certainly not an expert when it comes to real estate issues. I need the absolute best licensed real estate agent to get my family the perfect house at the best price possible.” On the other hand, Patsy addresses the more personal side of buying a home when she said, “Our home is the ‘heart’ of my family.
